Nearly seventy villagers attended the Goldhanger Village Hall AGM on November 27th, with complimentary cheese and wine, and received a presentation on the Village Hall Improvement Project, which, in summary, is to provide a community facility fit for purpose and accessible to all embracing an inclusive society in the village and outlying areas. This involves remodelling and extending the building to provide fully accessible toilets and baby change facilities, entrance foyer and storage as well as reroofing the whole building and replacing the boiler.
The Project has huge support from the village and the audience was delighted to hear the very exciting latest news that the Big Lottery Fund (Reaching Communities) has awarded us £60,000 bringing completion of the work much much closer.
Funds have also been pledged or received from Charles S French Trust, Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation, Fowler Smith and Jones Trust, Essex County Council Community Initiatives Fund and Goldhanger Parish Council.
The village community has raised nearly £28,000 so far which is truly amazing for a village the size of Goldhanger.
